MAGA homebuilder admits 'higher-end customers' putting plans on hold amid Trump tariffs

A Trump-backing homebuilder from Tennessee joined CNN on Friday evening to discuss how President Donald Trump's draconian new tariff regime, rippling through the stock market, is impacting his industry — and while he broadly tried to downplay it as a serious threat to his own business, he admitted it's been suffering at least to some degree.

"Maybe it's just too soon to tell, but I'm just wondering if any potential customers have expressed any concerns just because of the volatility of the market and the potential impact of the tariffs," said anchor Jake Tapper.

'Only happened a handful of times': Analyst sounds alarm at rare economic 'red flag'

A massive sell-off in U.S. bonds led a CNN analyst to sound the alarm about a rare "red flag" as financial markets reel.

The country saw a significant sell-off in U.S. bonds this week, driven by concerns over President Donald Trump's tariff policies and broader economic uncertainty. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note surged to as high as 4.53%, marking its highest point since February and a dramatic increase from Monday’s low of 3.87%. This reflects a sharp decline in bond prices, as yields and prices move inversely.

MSNBC host warns 'wish-casting' Trump just 'overplayed his hand'

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle said she thinks the markets have been topsy-turvy all week because, in the past, the underlying economy was "a disaster." What's happening now, however, is "completely self-made."

Speaking to Nicolle Wallace on Friday, Ruhle said, "It's why the market this week has been up and down and up and down, because investors are hoping and begging and praying that Trump just scratches this thing. Because if he does, we actually have a good economy. But if he doesn't, he has us on a collision course for disaster."

Ex-prosecutor cites 'remarkable statement' from Supreme Court putting Trump in his place

Asked for a reaction to the normally-divided Supreme Court coming down unanimously against the Donald Trump administration's decision to snatch immigrants off the street and deport them without due process, former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance noted one justice issued a notable admonition.

Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Vance was asked by co-host Joe Scarborough about the 9-0 ruling that instructed the Department of Justice to effectuate the return of 29-year-old Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia from El Salvador after the DOJ admitted he was sent to a maximum security prison due to an "administrative error."

Panicky Wall Street wants Cabinet member 'miles and miles away' from White House: MSNBC

Donald Trump's decision to put his sweeping tariffs on "pause" is doing nothing to tamp down the worries of Wall Street executives who have been watching stocks take radical swings since the president made his much-hyped announcement last week.

During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," network host and former Wall Street exec Stephanie Ruhle claimed her phone lit up with panicky calls on Thursday night after the market took another dive and that there is a consensus that Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro has to go.

Speaking with the host, Ruhle explained, "I was at my son's school play, and my phone was ringing off the hook with all of them saying one thing: 'Where's [Treasury Secretary] Scott Bessent? Is he in the room? Is he the one in charge?' Because that's what Wall Street is betting on."

"The fact that they're, you know –– think about the stories in the last four days that the white house is pushing out –– Scott Bessent in charge. He's the one who's negotiating with Japan and one of the main reasons they're doing this is because that's what Wall Street wants," she elaborated. "Wall Street wants Peter Navarro and his hardline protectionist views miles and miles away from the president, because this idea that we're going to onshore all of our manufacturing and we're not going to need those international trading partners, it will take trillions of dollars and 20 years to recreate the global supply chain and bring it all home."

'Most shocking data I've seen': CNN analyst stunned by GOP gain on key voter question

CNN's Harry Enten flagged some "shocking" poll data showing Democrats and Republicans are neck and neck in a key metric.

'That game is over': Ex-senator claims Supreme Court just put Trump's admin on notice

According to former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) the Supreme Court late Thursday left no doubt that won't give Donald Trump's administration a free pass to snatch people off the street and ship them out of the country without due process.

During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," the blunt-speaking former lawmaker stated the court's rebuke, with regard to the arrest and shipping of 29-year-old Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to a prison in El Salvador, has put Trump's DOJ on notice.

Speaking with co-host Joe Scarborough, McCaskill explained, "I think [Chief Justice John] Roberts wanted a 9-0; I think he wanted everybody in the boat and so they kind of played games with the semantics of this, this 'effectuate' versus 'facilitate.'"

"The bottom line is this Supreme Court has unanimously told Donald Trump, you can't race to the airport with a bunch of people and get them out of the country and then claim you can do nothing about it," she continued. "That no longer can happen, that game is over, and that's really the takeaway here."

She then added, "This and we had a Trump judge yesterday also basically citing the Supreme Court saying you've got to give notice, you've got to have a hearing and that's really what I think we need in this country is the court to unanimously, even if the language was a little hinky, and they're going to have to go back and figure out the difference."

"It's still is very strong that our Supreme Court unanimously said, 'No, Donald Trump. You can't do this, not in the United States of America,'" she concluded.
