Expert doubts 'bomb' dropped onto Trump's verdict will derail sentencing

Donald Trump's attorneys will almost certainly try to delay sentencing due to a comment about the case left on the court's Facebook page, but a legal expert cast doubt on their chances of halting the process.

New York Justice Juan Merchan brought the comment, in which a social media user claimed their cousin was a juror and thanked them for their hard work, to the attention of Trump's lawyers and prosecutors but did not ask either party to take any action, and MSNBC's Lisa Rubin told "Morning Joe" the post would not likely pause sentencing.

Trump defied 'any sense of reality' in Vegas rally speech: MSNBC analyst

Reacting to Donald Trump's speech on Sunday at a rally in scorching Las Vegas, MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch hammered the former president for calling the Jan. 6 rioters "hostages," before accusing him of creating a fake "reality" for his supporters.

Speaking with Deutsch, "Way Too Early" host Jonathan Lemire suggested Democrats will use footage of Trump's fans storming the Capitol and attacking Capitol police as the election nears.

"Let's start with Donald Trump," Lemire prompted his guest. "This is not a new refrain, him praising the January 6th insurrectionists; now, calling them heroes and contrasting them with the Capitol police, just a new low."

"Also using the word hostages," Deutsch replied. "You know, with what's going on in Israel. We have hostages we know all too well and sadly. To call them hostages is ridiculous. J6, all of the sudden now it's a thing because he's branded it, J6 and that the police said, 'come on in, come on in.'"

Texas AG Ken Paxton campaign ad mistakenly implicates Donald Trump

"It's just as if the videotape never existed as if we never saw the footage," he continued. "It's just amazing how he can defy any sense of reality, and his followers believe it."

"You know, it's been a few years, and we've got to just continue to refresh people's memories," Deutsch elaborated. "When you see it, you just wonder, how can anybody vote for this side, who relishes these people, who calls these people champions, who calls these people heroes, victims, hostages. You're staring at this and going, 'What planet am I on?"'

'Really?' MSNBC host stumped by MAGA fan's baffling answer about Trump 'retribution'

A supporter of Donald Trump attending a MAGA rally in sweltering Las Vegas stumped MSNBC host Alex Witt on Sunday when he responded to a question about the former president promising retribution against his enemies by linking him to Jesus spreading "love."

In an interview with MSNBC's Vaughn Hillyard, a man identified as Ira Kimball was asked, "If Donald Trump does get back in the White House, would you want him to seek retribution against those who have brought these charges against him?"

"When we think about Jesus Christ himself, everybody went against him because he was preaching love and doing what was right for the people," the MAGA supporter replied. "Trump is doing what is right for this nation and because he is doing that, everybody is against him."

After watching the clip, Witt stated, " By the way, that person you interviewed? I thought he was going to say that Donald Trump is preaching love. At which point I was going to go, really?"
