Democratic strategist Donna Brazile clashed with former Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus after he defended Eric Trump's assertion that Democrats were to blame for assassination attempts on his father, former President Donald Trump.

During a panel discussion on ABC Sunday, host George Stephanopoulos asked Priebus if Eric Trump had been wrong to blame Democrats for assassination attempts on the former president's life.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz pushed back against Fox News host Shannon Bream after she distorted the abortion laws in his state.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Bream insisted Walz had made abortion "legal through all nine months" as governor of Minnesota.

A claim by Re[publican Party vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance that Donald Trump "took a bullet for democracy" drew no small measure of contempt on MSNBC Sunday morning.

At a Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where an attempt was made in July on the former president's life resulting in him being grazed on the ear by a bullet, Vance ranted to the crowd, "First, they tried to silence him. When that didn't work they tried to bankrupt him. When that didn't work, they tried to jail him and, with all the hatred they have spewed at president Trump, it was only a matter of time before somebody tried to kill him."

A rant by GOP vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania was dismissed by CNN's Alayna Treene Sunday morning after he accused Democrats of being behind assassination attempts aimed at Donald Trump.

Vance made a speaking appearance with the former president at the site of the first attempt on Trump's life weeks ago.

As part of her post-Trump rally reporting on Sunday morning, the CNN reporter highlighted Vance bellowing at the MAGA crowd, "First, they tried to silence him. When that didn't work they tried to bankrupt him. When that didn't work, they tried to jail him and, with all the hatred they have spewed at president Trump, it was only a matter of time before somebody tried to kill him."

Specifically, the NBC late night comedy show Saturday night took a jab at the vice presidential debate just a month before Election Day on Nov. 5.

On Saturday afternoon, MSNBC host Katie Phang raised the prospect that Donald Trump could win in November and then, after being sworn into office, his physical and mental health could decline to a point where the 25th Amendment would come into play.

Toward the end of Trump's first term almost four years ago, there were reports that the amendment put in place to remove an incapacitated president would be used to remove the former president.

During an appearance on CNN on Saturday morning, "legendary" Democratic campaign advisor James Carville was asked what he thought about a book promotion video from former first lady Melania Trump where she asserted her pro-choice views which run counter to the direction the GOP has gone while her husband was president.

In the video, Donald Trump's wife announced, "“Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I safeguard. Without a doubt, there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth, individual freedom. What does my body, my choice really mean?"

Asked for his opinion on what is going on with highlighting those comments at a time when the abortion debate is crippling the Republican party, Carville laughed and claimed it was Melania's way of subtly damaging her husband's election prospects.

"I think you have an entirely wrong interpretation about what Mrs. Trump did, " Carville told host Michael Smerconish. "I think she can't stand him and I think it was very intentional. Not only does she put out about how pro-choice she was she also put out how pro-immigrant."

"But again, the rule of the commentariat is every piece of information must be interpreted in the most negative light to the Democrats, " he added. "I think the interpretation that she's doing this help to him [Trump] politically is entirely wrong. I think she's trying to cause him all the misery and anxiety that she possibly can."

On Saturday morning, former Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele went on an epic rant and ripped into Republican members of Congress casting doubt on the fairness of elections.

After noting the GOP vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance refused to say the 2020 election was conducted fairly, the MSNBC host lumped him in with other Republican members of Congress who have already hedged their bets about the November 2024 election results.

Steele noted, if Republicans in Congress have doubts about the 2020 or 2022 elections, how do they reconcile that with their own victories.

As he told his co-hosts and guest George Conway, "Here's the thing I think for everybody out there to wrap your silly little head around. It's the fact that fair and free elections, that's never been a question for us because we have redundancies in our system to check to make sure is a fair and free election."

"But riddle me this, Republicans," he continued as his voice began to rise. "How do you corrupt the top of the ticket without corrupting the rest of the ballot? Because that means a lot of your behinds should not be in Congress right now and should not be in the Senate!"

"How can I fraudulently elect Joe Biden, but not fraudulently elect all the Republicans on that same ballot.," he asked to which Conway joked, "It's magic."

"How the hell does that happen?" Steele continued before emphatically exclaiming, "Please stop buying his [Trump's] crap! I am fed up today."

Reacting to a Washington Post report on the alarming trend of Donald Trump fans leaving early during his increasingly smaller rallies, the panel on MSNBC's "The Weekend" suggested it is a sign that the former president's act is growing tired and even his MAGA supporters are losing interest.

According to conservative lawyer George Conway, the fleeing MAGA fans could be a harbinger of what to expect on voting day in November.

Asked for his analysis about what is going on, he explained that not only is most of the country tired of Trump, but some of his most avid supporters are flat-out exhausted with politics in general.

"I think if there is an exhaustion factor creeping in," he told the co-hosts. "I mean maybe it's anecdotal from people saying they are looking at these crowds and looking for yard signs but you don't feel the level of energy that they had before."

"I think his own base is exhausted by him and I think the whole country is exhausted," he elaborated. "But the people who want to vote them out, who have been against him all along, and the people who have come to understand his true evil, those people are motivated to get out."

He added, "The other people sick of him are his own people and it's like, ''All right, I don't want to go to another rally. Do I really want –– do I have to get up on election day? How many envelopes do I have to –– these envelopes are bad; I'm not going to vote."
