Momentum builds to oust Trump’s labor secretary for pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's sweetheart deal

On Thursday, more Democratic lawmakers called on Trump Labor Secretary Alex Acosta to resign his post, after a Miami Herald investigation revealed his instrumental role in securing a sweetheart plea deal for pedophile and billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein is accused of sex trafficking and rape of dozens of girls—some of his accusers were under 14 at the time the abuse took place. Yet, thanks to a plea deal brokered by Acosta, Epstein spent almost no time in prison. In the 11 months he was incarcerated, he was allowed to leave his cell and go work from an office.

None of his victims were informed of the deal.

Epstein fraternized with a  variety of wealthy and prominent individuals, including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Alan Dershowitz, who was Epstein's lawyer.

Following a reported segment on Acosta's critics, CNN host Jake Tapper asked Debbie Wasserman Schultz about the labor secretary's claim that more evidence has come to light against Epstein since 2007.

"That's garbage," Schultz said about Acosta's defense.
