Admitted Florida child molester leaves church sanctuary and heads for Miami as cops open investigation

A Florida man, who shocked a Jacksonville City Council meeting this week when he admitted to being a child molester, has left his home on church property and headed for Miami as authorities begin investigating his claims, reports Florida Politics.

Appearing at the Tuesday meeting to argue against expanding legal protections for the city’s LGBT residents, Roy Bay, 56, said he had been a pedophile for years when he was younger.

“I lived most of my life sexually assaulting kids and never went to jail. Because why? Kids believed me that hey this is, you’re alright son. This is not a problem. Okay? This happens in homosexual lifestyle,” Bay admitted before the council and the crowd.

After it was revealed that Bay was living on property owned by the Evangel Temple -- where he claimed on Facebook he also worked -- Bay was given safe passage from the property by church security as police in Jacksonville began their investigation.

According to WJXT, Bay lives in apartments on Evangel Temple property, located close to at least one elementary school.

On Wednesday night, Evangel Pastor Gary Wiggins spoke to his congregation about Bay, stating: "We're going to pray for a member."

According to Wiggins, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office had visited the church earlier in the day to investigate Bay's claims.

Writing on his Facebook page -- where the most recent posts have been made private -- Bay said his goodbyes, writing: "Hey Facebook friends and family, I love each and everyone of you and appreciate your prayer and support, if someone contacts you about me, I am asking you not to talk to them at all about anything, this is my problem and I will handle it, thanks I appreciate your love and prayer support in this time of trial and testing."
