Alan Keyes says Jesus Christ inspires his unceasing efforts to impeach President Barack Obama.
The perennial candidate for public office and former host of the MSNBC show “Alan Keyes Is Making Sense” has been promoting a movement to elect officials who will vote to impeach the president, but it has so far failed to gain much traction.
“Many Americans are still adamantly unwilling to choke down the prospect of life under a vicious, dictatorial regime,” Keyes wrote in a World Net Daily column published Friday. “Their eyes see past the populist disguise of socialist gangsterism. Some have (I think prematurely) concluded that America’s liberty is irretrievable defunct.”
That’s where Jesus comes in.
“Others, particularly those who believe in Jesus Christ’s permanent resurrection of hope, look unflinchingly into the abyss, sure that if they remember and trust in God’s law of love and mercy, He has the power to restore their nation to the better path of human destiny,” Keyes wrote. “It is especially (though not exclusively) among such people that the movement to impeach and remove Obama and his cronies from office arises.”
The conservative activist and commentator complains that the “GOP’s elitist faction quislings” have pooh-poohed the idea of impeachment.
“This discourages many of the conservatives who long for an end to the Obama nightmare, while slyly belittling their intelligence and common sense,” Keyes wrote.
He argued that the impeachment process prescribed by the Constitution allowed Americans to reach their full potential as sovereign citizens, rather than mere subjects, and take the law into their own hands.
“Can America afford to wait three more years for the chance to end Obama’s destructive socialist coup d’état?” Keyes wrote. “American citizens who answer with a resounding ‘no’ need consider what they can do about it. They need to decide what, as individuals, they are personally willing to do to restore and preserve their government of, by and for the people.”
Free speech isn’t enough, he argued.
“Demonstrations and rallies and fervent pleas petitioning those in government may vent our feelings, but they cannot, by themselves, secure our goal,” Keyes wrote.
Citing Abraham Lincoln, the former talk radio host advocated the use of “cold calculating, unimpassioned reason” to remove the president from office.
“The 2014 election may be our last opportunity to thwart and repel the elitist faction’s push to overthrow our republic,” Keyes wrote. “If we do nothing to reclaim the political initiative, another sham presidential election will seal America’s fate.”
While it may sound like he’s advocating something darker, Keyes then directs readers to his blog, where he asks them to pledge to support only candidates who will vote for impeachment and to sign up for an email list.
“If everyone who enrolls in the database commits to find and recruit others; and actually does so, exponential growth is guaranteed, wherever a supply of potential recruits (i.e., people who sincerely want to see Obama constitutionally impeached/removed from office) remains available,” Keyes wrote.
