Alt-right Republican senate candidate turned away from hotel in rural Washington state

Alt-right provocateur Joey Gibson is likely to be the Republican candidate for U.S. senate in the state of Washington.

Gibson, whose Patriot Prayer rallies have drawn white nationalists and seen violent confrontations, is running for the nomination unopposed and will face Democrat Maria Cantwell, who won her most recent re-election bid with 60 percent of the vote.

But Gibson's ties to right-wing extremism got the rally he held in rural eastern Washington today booted from a hotel, the Tri-Cities Herald reports.

Gibson had been scheduled to hold an event at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Kennewick. But the hotel canceled the event. It did not comment to the paper, but Gibson claimed it was because of “leftist threats.”

Gibson moved his event to a park in nearby Richland.

Gibson's eastern Washington trip now finds him campaigning at an march held by the local ARC, a group supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
