WATCH: Anderson Cooper pushes furious White House spokesperson Hogan Gidley over the edge by calling Trump a liar

On Thursday, CNN host Anderson Cooper quickly fact-checked Deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley over special counsel Robert Mueller's report.

Attorney General Bill Barr released the report Thursday morning after holding a press conference.

"Why are the president and his allies saying he was exonerated of obstruction which is literally the opposite of what Robert Mueller decided?" Cooper said.

"I think it's pretty obvious that so many in the media, so many on the left were actually upset at the fact that a man they had accused of treason for the better part of two years was innocent," Gidley said.

Cooper interrupted quickly and said, "No reporter at CNN ever accused the president of treason."

Gidley went on to explain his views on the report.

"There is no obstruction," Gidley said.

"That's not true," Cooper said. "That is not what Robert Mueller said. He said I can't exonerate the president on this, and he pointed out some very detailed examples."

"The attorney general of the United States said in a memo that a sitting president can't be indicted. Robert Mueller accepted that, so the idea that if there were things to indict, they would have indicted him, he can't be indicted," Cooper said.

The conversation then erupted into a an all-out battle, over the report, transparency, and Trump's lies.

"We've been dealing with this now for two and a half years. When are you people going to understand?" Gidley said.

"I know you want to ignore the fact the guy you work for lies," Cooper said.

"You have a panel almost every night with people who lie. So I don't know how that's any different than what I'm talking about," Gidley said.

"Well, that's unfortunate that you would think that," Cooper said.
