Arrest made after threat to axe murder Kentucky Republican Rand Paul

The United States Capitol Police arrested a man for threatening Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), the Louisville Courier Journalreported Monday.

"Capitol Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who threatened to kill me and chop up my family with an axe," Paul told the Courier Journal. "It's just horrendous that we have to deal with things like this."

Sen. Paul and the newspaper both report the man has been arrested.

The axe murder threat was reportedly called in to Sen. Paul's Bowling Green office.

No motive has been given for the threat.

In November, Paul was assaulted by his neighbor, Rene Boucher, in a non-political dispute over yard waste in their Bowling Green neighborhood.

"It's been a year where we're becoming more and more aware of these threats," Paul acknowledged.

The Kentucky Republican is the son of former Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), who also unsuccessfully ran for president.

Ron Paul was in the news on Monday after sharing an "insanely racist" cartoon.
