'Bad things are going to happen': Morning Joe warns Trump associates to give up goods to Mueller -- or else

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said the latest bombshell revelations about the Russia investigation showed why President Donald Trump's associates should fear special counsel Robert Mueller.

New reporting shows federal investigators intended to indict former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and reveals how quickly Mueller's team has gathered potentially damning evidence against the president's associates.

"Bob Mueller does not play around," Scarborough said. "He is the antithesis of everything that Donald Trump is. He is a man that has repeatedly, throughout his entire life, believed that if you have integrity, nothing else matters -- and if you don't, nothing else matters."

The New York Times reported that federal agents convinced a judge to let them pick Manafort's lock before executing a pre-dawn search warrant, and Scarborough said that should send a chill down the spine of Trump's campaign associates.

"This sends a message to everybody in this investigation," he said. "Forget what Donald Trump has told you, forgot the nod and the winks, forget the assurances that everything is going to be okay -- everything is not going to be okay. Bob Mueller will figure out how to get to the facts. If you have information, you better give it to him or bad things are going to happen."

The "Morning Joe" host reminded viewers that Mueller was also working with New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman, which means charges are in play at the state level -- beyond the reach of a presidential pardon.

"There is nothing Donald Trump can do to help you there," he warned.
