Federal prosecutors in Maryland indicted a former Baltimore Police sergeant on Tuesday for planting evidence, WBAL-TV reports.
Former Sgt. Keith Gladstone was charged with conspiracy to deprive civil rights, conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States and witness tampering.
"In light of the indictment, the Baltimore Police Department announced Tuesday that three other officers would be suspended and investigated by the Internal Affairs department," The Baltimore Sunreports.
Gladstone is accused of planting a BB gun on Demetric Simon, who had been intentionally run over by Sgt. Wayne Jenkins.
Gladstone pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.
