A TMZ report that Beyoncé was set to perform at the Democratic National Convention was apparently debunked late Thursday by a conflicting story that a rep for the star denied it.
Beyoncé has been unveiled as the surprise guest at the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, performing before Vice President Kamala Harris is set to give her acceptance speech for the presidential nomination, according to several reports that cited TMZ.
But Hollywood Reporter cited an unnamed rep saying she had never planned to be on the DNC stage.
Earlier in the day, sources reported that there was a mystery time slot open for a surprise speaker who would be a highlight of the proceedings. It follows a similar surprise unveiling saw billionaire philanthropist Oprah Winfrey take the stage in support of Harris on Wednesday.
The DNC has been a massive spectacle all week, including speeches from multiple former presidents, and a ceremonial roll call that DJed individualized music for each state's delegates.
