Bill Shine fled 'meat-grinder' White House due to 'incompetence and back-stabbing': Trump biographer

Bloomberg news writer and Trump biographer Timothy L. O'Brien torched the president Friday in an opinion piece regarding staff turnover in the White House that held little back.

"The White House is essentially an outsized meat grinder, beset by chaos, backstabbing and incompetence and managed by someone who has little interest, and thus a woeful lack of managerial experience, in building strong teams," O'Brien wrote. "The practical implications of this," he continued, "are a dearth of expertise, loyalty, productivity and accomplishments — bad for any organization of any stripe."

The writer, who wrote "TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald," was set off by Friday's news that former Fox News heavyweight Bill Shine is out as White House Communications director, after serving for just eight months on the job.

"Packaging and promoting Trump at the expense of truth, justice and the American way was familiar territory for him," O'Brien wrote of Shine, while noting that Shine still couldn't spin the press hard enough to make his boss happy.

"At Fox, Shine had an audience of millions, but at the White House, he had an audience of one sitting in the Oval Office, who, at his core, is a performance artist," he said of Trump. "Fox can edit, dodge, ignore, gloss and play-act when they put their shows together; the White House has to deal in real time with the material it gets....it can’t really spin Cohen’s testimony or a failed summit," OBrien added.

He finished the column with a final thought: "The clock is ticking for anyone in charge of White House propagandizing."
