Black trash collector finds ‘slave’ doll lynched in his truck — along with racist warning

A black couple in Florida were shocked to find a "slave doll" with a seemingly threatening message for them at their shared place of work -- and say their employer has yet to find out who left it.

Orlando's WKMG reported that Steven Parks, who works with his wife for the Waste Pro garbage management company, found the doll in his truck earlier in December.

"Somebody hanged a 'slave' doll and they wrote on it, 'You 2 (expletive) go back to Philly,'" Parks said. "The only two people who work here that are from Philadelphia are me and my wife."

He told WKMG that he called Waste Pro's human resources department "several times," but nothing had been done about the doll. He then contacted the news station.

When WKMG contacted Waste Pro, a representative said they called the local Groveland Police Department immediately upon learning of the incident and that the company is conducting an internal investigation.

Groveland City Manager Mike Hein confirmed the investigation to the news station and discussed it as a potential "hate crime."

"We are putting our full resources toward this investigation," Hein said. "Hate crimes, hate speech and acts of bias will not be tolerated."
