GOP pundits' swipe at Obama instantly backfires amid cheesecake fiasco: 'No, darling'

A pair of GOP tried to defend President Donald Trump's White House renovations on Monday night, only for their remarks to instantly backfire.

Trump erupted Monday when he was asked by reporters about former President Barack Obama's claim that Trump had the White House looking like a Cheesecake Factory opened by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Trump told reporters that Obama had ignored years of "filth" in the White House before Trump entered for his first term in 2016, and said it was a sign that he was a "lousy president."

Scott Jennings, a long-time GOP communications strategist, tried to defend Trump's outburst on CNN's "Countdown to Election Night" by arguing that Obama would be remembered as the president who ruined health care.

Joanna Coles, chief content officer at The Daily Beast, replied that Trump would be the president that is remembered for raising prices on Americans, a comment that didn't sit well with Lydia Moynihan, a columnist at The New York Post.

"Because everyone is going on Ozempic," she said sarcastically.

Coles lobbed a devastating comeback at Moynihan.

"No, darling," Coles said. "I think it's because prices are high everywhere because of inflation. The cheesecake is getting smaller. It could be Ozempic, but I think it's getting smaller because Cheesecake Factory can't afford to give us a decent slice."
