Rapper chasing Trump pardon erupts that '60 Minutes' buried what mattered most

Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., the prominent rapper known as Boosie BadAzz, lashed out at CBS News’ “60 Minutes” Sunday night, accusing the long-running news program of gutting his interview in a recent exposé about the new pardon industry that has emerged under the second Trump administration.

Boosie was sentenced in January to three years of supervised release after being convicted on a felony weapons charge. In July, The New York Times reported that the rapper had paid $600,000 to “two right-wing operatives” in a bid to receive a pardon, an approach that has grown in prominence under the Trump administration.

Ultimately, Boosie never received a pardon. He was interviewed by “60 Minutes” as part of an investigation into the new pardon industry that aired Sunday night. After watching the finished segment, Boosie expressed displeasure with the result.

“I DID A HOUR INTERVIEW WITH 60 MINUTES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY LAWSUIT BUT ONLY A FEW THINGS GOT PUT OUT,” Boosie exclaimed Sunday night in a social media post on X.

In July, The New York Times reported that Boosie was seeking a refund on at least half of the $600,000 he had paid the two right-wing operatives — Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl of JM Burkman & Associates — in his bid to receive a pardon.

Boosie further alleged that he discussed damning details with “60 Minutes” of his interactions with Burkman and Wohl — who he hoped would help get his case in front of President Donald Trump and Alice Marie Johnson, Trump’s “Pardon Czar” — but that they didn’t make the episode’s final cut.

“I WANTED THE PRESIDENT TO LOOK AT MY CASE WITH MS ALICE N SEE IF ITS WORTH A PARDON! ALSO SAID I WANTED HIM TO TAKE N CONSIDERATION HOW I WAS DONE WRONG BY THESE PEOPLE WHO LIED ON HIM TO DO SO!” Boosie wrote.

“MY STORY WASNT TOLD FULLY BUT HOPEFULLY THIS INTERVIEW WILL PROVE MY POINT CLEARLY N CIVIL COURT THAT I NEED TO BE COMPENSATED X 10.”
