Joe Rogan, who endorsed President Donald Trump in 2024, said this week that Trump’s biggest letdown for his supporters was his promise to keep the country out of new wars.
“The thing that disappoints everybody who supported Trump before he got into office was one of his big things that everybody agreed with was no more war,” Rogan said on the latest episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” with comedian Colum Tyrrell. “Like please, that sounds great.”
Rogan said voters had long assumed that the “military-industrial complex” pushes the country into unnecessary conflicts.
“They need more war so they could sell more weapons,” he said.
He said previous presidents had resisted pressure to attack Iran.
“They tried to talk Obama into doing it. They tried to talk Biden into doing it. Nobody did it,” Rogan said.
He also noted that many people expect fighting with Iran to pick up again once Tuesday’s midterm elections are over.
“A lot of people are worried that after the midterms, so when the midterms are over, that that’s when they’re going to start doing more in Iran,” Rogan said. “It’s not resolved.”
The war came up during a broader discussion of Trump’s second term. The two hosts read through Trump’s lengthy Truth Social attack on HBO host Bill Maher, and Rogan walked through how meme coins can be used to move money to politicians. He compared Trump’s crypto ventures to Hunter Biden’s art sales, though he noted that Trump making money from crypto isn’t automatically illegal.
Tyrrell, who moved to the U.S. from Ireland, said he was ready for a change.
“I think we’ve had our fill of Trump though,” he said. “My whole time living here has been pretty much just dominated by Trump.”
Rogan has grown more critical of Trump over the past year. He has complained about the handling of the Epstein files and the war with Iran. Earlier in the same episode, he reacted with disbelief to Trump’s rally comments about rapper Nicki Minaj, as the Daily Beast reported.
Rogan’s remarks come days after Republican strategist Karl Rove predicted that Trump will resume U.S. strikes on Iran after the election.
