A Detroit police commissioner caught in his pickup truck with a sex worker insists the woman unexpectedly jumped into the vehicle.
Bryan Ferguson, who serves on the watchdog committee that oversees the police department, was spotted by officers engaged in a sex act with the woman in his truck Wednesday morning, reported WDIV-TV.
"At that time, Mr. Bryan Ferguson stepped out, identified himself as a Detroit police commissioner," said Wayne County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jason Bates. "A title or position doesn't make them above the law."
Ferguson told officers the woman had surprised him by getting into his truck and asked them for help removing her from the vehicle, but police said the woman was a known prostitute and charged her as well.
Today, multiple media outlets released information alleging ‘indecent conduct’ this morning," Ferguson said in a statement. "The allegation is untrue and the situation is a big misunderstanding. I do not want this personal matter to become a distraction from the important oversight work this board has to do. For that reason, I am making the decision to step back from the board meetings for a time."
Ferguson resigned from the board Thursday at its regularly scheduled meeting.
