MAGA rioter Kyle Fitzsimons is demanding that his trial be moved out of Washington, D.C., where he believes prospective jurors will be too biased to give him a fair hearing.
In a new court filing flagged by NBC 4 Washington's Scott MacFarlane, Fitzsimmons's attorney argues that relying on Washington D.C. residents as jurors would produce "the most politically prejudiced jury in the country" on the grounds that they have been "barraged with political propaganda" that will make them biased against Trump supporters.
The filing also singles out President Joe Biden for criticism and argues that he poisoned the minds of prospective jurors when he called the MAGA rioters "a bunch of thugs, insurrectionists, political extremists, and white supremacists."
The attorney then brought up the specter of "cancel culture" hanging over the trial.
"Many individuals who attended the Trump rally at the Capitol on January 6, regardless of entry into the Capitol, have been 'canceled' and fired just due to their association with the incident," they wrote.
The filing requests that Fitzsimmons's trial be moved to his home state of Maine, where he'll supposedly get a fairer hearing.
But as MacFarlane notes, many MAGA rioters have tried to get their trials moved, and so far none have been successful.
