South Park’s depiction of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk has sparked renewed outrage online from many MAGA faithful in the wake of Kirk’s targeted killing on Wednesday.
“Trey Parker and Matt Stone have blood on their hands,” wrote X user “Lucker Teter,” who claims in their bio to be an attorney and “MAGA-Hulk,” and has amassed more than 24,000 followers, referencing the show’s creators. “Remove South Park from all streaming services.”
Kirk was depicted on the popular Comedy Central show in an episode last month by one of the show’s main characters, “Eric Cartman,” who played a satirized version of the right-wing influencer, engaging in debates on college campuses rooted in biblical arguments. Kirk embraced his depiction on the show, telling Fox News he found it humorous.
Nevertheless, a number of X users pointed the finger at South Park for its depiction of Kirk in the wake of the right-wing influencer’s killing.
“South Park skipped four years of [Former President Joe] Biden just to demonize a guy who does speaking events,” wrote X user “TJ Lazer,” a self-described veteran and “Catholic convert.” “Charlie Kirk did nothing wrong.”
“South Park is also to blame for what happened to Charlie Kirk,” wrote X user “DemsKillBabies,” a likely reference to the Democratic Party’s pro-choice positions, which Kirk himself was fiercely opposed to. “Not one ‘Biden’ episode for four years. Then as soon as Trump is in they literally put him in bed with the devil and add Charlie Kirk to the episode.”
