Cindy McCain will never forgive Trump for insulting her husband — and she doubts he’ll run for re-election

Cindy McCain says she can't commit to voting for President Donald Trump's re-election -- if he even runs at all.

The widow of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) can never forget Trump opening his presidential campaign by insulting her husband's Vietnam War service -- and she's not sure she'll "ever get over it," reported BBC.

"But I’m the wife, that’s my prerogative -- I don’t have to," she said.

Trump, who avoided military service with bone spurs, insisted the Arizona Republican was not a war hero because he had been captured as a prisoner of war.

"I thought it was inappropriate and wrong, I really did," McCain said. "It hurt the family, too. He hurt the other men that served with John."

Trump and McCain often disagreed politically, but the senator's widow said she hadn't ruled out voting for him in two years.

"I can’t answer that right now," McCain said. "I think at this point, I’d like to see some softening of the rhetoric, I really would. It’s hurtful."

However, she revealed that she's heard rumors suggesting Trump won't actually seek re-election -- although he has already launched a 2020 campaign.

"And he’s not sure," she said.
