CNN pundit reveals why Michael Cohen is 'taking a bullet' and going to prison
August 29, 2018
CNN reporter M.J. Lee explained why Michael Cohen is "resigned to the fact that he will go to prison for some time," and expects no pardon from President Trump.
Cohen, who has pleaded guilty to charges of tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and more, was primarily motivated by his family's well-being, said Lee. "His wife could have been implicated and their assets could have been seized." Cohen was also worried about the legal bills his family would face if he went to trial, she added.
In an ironic bit of commentary, Lee recalled an interview with one of Cohen's friends, who told her "You know who Michael took a bullet for? His family," a reference to Cohen's now-notorious interview with Vanity Fair in which he said he'd "take a bullet" for the president.
