CNN’s Jim Acosta wonders if Sarah Sanders will ‘come back to the real world‘

CNN's Jim Acosta on Monday mused about the lengthy time span between White House press briefings — and wondered if press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will finally address the issues that have ensued in the 41 days since her last one when she takes the podium today.

The White House correspondent noted that the last White House press briefing on December 18, 2018, "such a long period of time [ago] that we had a government shutdown, the longest in U.S. history, in the middle of that time frame."

"It will be interesting to see just how long Sarah Sanders devotes to this briefing," he added. "Some of the latest briefings we saw at the end of 2018 were running on average in the ballpark of 20 or 25 minutes."

Acosta ran through a list of questions likely to come up during the briefing, including the indictment and FBI raid of Roger Stone, before making a quip about the press secretary with whom he's so often been at odds.

"It will be interesting to see whether Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the team here have come back to the real world when she steps out to the podium," the White House correspondent said.
