CNN's Phil Mudd destroys Trump's panicky Mulvaney hire: 'He's tired of looking like an idiot'

Former CIA counterterrorism analyst Phil Mudd noted on CNN Friday that there's a simple reason why Donald Trump hired Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney as his acting White House chief of staff -- to stop the ridicule.

"People are making fun of the president left and right," Mudd noted, after Nick Ayers, Vice President Mike Pence's outgoing chief of staff and Trump's former top pick for the job, announced publicly that he wasn't going to take the position.

To add insult to injury, "everybody else on the planet said 'I don't want to do it'" too, the CNN specialist said.

Trump, Mudd mused, is likely "saying 'I'm getting tired of people making fun of me, I look like an idiot, I'm gonna have somebody in on Friday night.'"
