CNN's Phil Mudd pummels 'clown' Giuliani for sticking his nose in North Korea negotiations

Phil Mudd, ex-deputy director of the CIA’s Counterterrorist Center, slammed President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani for inserting himself into foreign affairs politics during an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on Thursday.

United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke about the Singapore June 12 summit during the White House press briefing. When asked if Giuliani spoke on the behalf of the administration, Pompeo brushed off the question and said "no."

In response, Mudd said Giuliani has gotten ahead of himself, and called him a "clown" for inserting himself into North Korea negotiations.

"You have this clown Giuliani, who is not even known by most North Koreans. I don't think so. There's another piece to be aware of. The president is right to say if we don't get a deal we can walk away. [However] you cannot walk away every time North Korea thumbs their noses at you. The president's temperament of walking away won't work."
