'Jesus was busy': Comer mocked for hope divine intervention will kill impeachment probe

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) is being subjected to Seventh Circle of Hell-level burns after news broke he hopes divine intervention will get him out of the President Biden impeachment probe.

CNN Capitol Hill reporter Melanie Zanona kicked the mockery off Wednesday when she shared on X a comment from an anonymous Republican lawmaker who said, "Comer is hoping Jesus comes so he can get out."

Comer apparently is"fed up" with the hapless impeachment efforts, the report said.

But his reported desire for a biblical snow day spurred laughter from a Capitol Hill litigator, a CNN analyst who interviewed a reporter who wrote the story, and multiple readers on X.

"Luckily for Comer, he doesn’t need divine intervention," replied congressional attorney Eric Columbus. "If Biden wins, the House will likely flip, and Comer will be relieved of his hapless impeachment inquiry once and for all."

X user @WTF---tocracy quipped Comer's beleaguered efforts to impeach Biden on as-of-yet unproven accusations of corruption might render his lord and savior willing to pitch in and help.

"Jesus: It’s extra marshmallow day in hell," the X user wrote. "Enjoy!"

Another X user named @moonbeamer6 suggested Comer's 15-month inquiry was beyond divine intervention, adding, "I don’t think Jesus can save him from this one."

And x user @giancarloqui1 posited House Republicans such as Comer might now regret their reliance on former President Donald Trump as he faces criminal charges linked to hush money allegedly paid to a porn star and a trial whose star witness this week was ex-National Enquirer publisher David Pecker.

"Jesus was busy," he wrote, "so they let Mr Pecker and Mr W---er determine the direction of their political and religious pursuits."

Daniel Kirby also took a swipe at Trump followers, writing, "MAGA Republicans wouldn't even vote for Jesus, simply because of his name."

And when reporter Annie Grayer appeared live to discuss her reporting with "CNN This Morning" host Kasie Hunt, the two women burst out laughing.

"Why don't they have the votes [to impeach]," Hunt asked. "Who is not where, you know, Comer, or leaders that want them to do this, need them to be."

"I mean," Grayer replied, "I think the problem is there's so many!"
