Conservative columnist reveals how Trump’s ‘internet trolling’ will backfire on him

On Friday, conservative Max Boot explained that President Donald Trump's toxic use of social media has backfired on him.

Conservative attorney George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, slammed Trump on Twitter and said that he does not know how to govern.

"He does this all the time, but it's next level stuff," CNN's Don Lemon said.

"This is one of these many things that would be considered crazy in the other administration, but in the Trump Administration it's just Friday," Boot said. "Because this is what we're kind of used to, right?"

"I think he is right that Trump has no idea how to run a government. But the one thing he does know how to do is to push the buttons of his supporters. That's what this is all about. He doesn't really care about solving the immigration issue or appealing to Americans, he certainly does not care about governing on behalf of all Americans. All he cares about is catering to 40 percent of the population, the people who support him," he said.

"So much of what he does is really not like a president, but of an Internet troll. It's not how you would expect a president to behave. This is, you know, kind of an Internet troll in the White House," he added.

"The one thing I will add is it backfired against him in the midterm elections because he kept pushing these buttons and all he did was to energize the opposition," he said.
