Couple arrested for beating death of cleaning woman in Hawaii vacation home

Two people have been arrested in the brutal beating death of a 51-year-old cleaning woman at a vacation home in Hawaii, said The New York Daily News on Saturday.

A group of vacationers from Australia found Telma Boinville bludgeoned to death when they arrived to check into their vacation rental house on Thursday. Police sources say Boinville died from blunt force trauma. Her husband told Hawaii News Now that she was killed by blows from a baseball bat.

The tourists also found the deceased woman's 8-year-old daughter tied to a chair in another room.

Police arrested Stephen Brown, 23, and Hailey Dandurand, 20, after Boinville's husband Kevin Emery put out an emotional call for help on Facebook, saying that Boinville had been murdered and her vehicle stolen.

Brown and Dandurand have not been charged yet as investigators try to piece together the chain of events leading to the murder. No motive has been established.

Boinville -- a native of Brazil -- was a substitute teacher at a local elementary school in addition to working as a cleaner.

Community members have established a GoFundMe campaign to help meet the family's expenses.
