'I cut people': Pals of Lamborghini-loving pastor threaten local newspaper during sermon

Pastor John Gray was outed this week for begging his congregation for $250,000 to fix the church's roof while basking in a $1.8 million mansion and buying his wife a Lamborghini. Now his church is threatening anyone who dares to call him out.

The Miami Herald outed the pastor, who spoke in a Sunday sermon at Relentless Church in Greenville, South Carolina. He appeared to deliver his remarks after Hope Carpenter briefly gave her own sermon praising Gray.

At the end of the speech, Carpenter attacked the Greenville News for reporting on the scandals surrounding Gray. From the Lamborghini to an extra-marital affair and now the financial desperation of the church, Gray has been questioned for his questionable brand of Christianity.

“I love you Pastor John and Pastor Aventer. I believe in you. I’m praying for you. I’m rooting for you,” Carpenter said. “I cut people. I got a knife right in that pocketbook. Greenville News, come on. We done went through this. I’m still here, and guess who else is still gonna be here?" Carpenter then pointed to the Grays.

Gray, who's been supportive of President Donald Trump, appeared on national talk shows trying to deny rumors that he had a child with a woman he had an affair with.

“There’s no baby, none of that,” Gray said during an appearance on "The Real."

Carpenter, who serves as the assistant pastor along with her husband, has her own level of controversy. Before she and her husband moved to Redemption Church, she attacked the NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.

“The national anthem is our nations song! Yes there are things in our country that’s wrong but our country is not to blame! You don’t like it? Move or be apart of the healing of our nation,” Carpenter said on Facebook “This will not fix racism! Duh!!!”

Carpenter's husband apologized for his wife's comments after a backlash.

During her Sunday mini-sermon, Carpenter explained that the Lord gave her a message for the church, which she knew was for them, she said, because Pastor Gray "confirmed it." "Hold fast to your confession of faith," she said. Carpenter then asked for forgiveness, but not for her comments on racism or Gray, but for using her cellphone while driving to church. She said she was swerving on the road using the phone while driving.

“I know that’s against the law. Forgive me, Jesus," she said.
