Don Jr. accuses 'failed' Paul Ryan of 'lying' to Trump about funding the border wall

Shortly after former Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said President Donald Trump was in danger of losing the 2020 election this week, Donald Trump Jr. hit back at Ryan by calling out his failures as leader of the Republican House of Representatives.

During a lecture on Monday, Ryan warned that Trump would lose in 2020 if he let Democrats make the election all about him and his behavior while in office.

“The person who defines that race is going to win the race,” he said. “If this is about Donald Trump and his personality, he isn’t going to win it.”

Trump Jr. responded by mocking Ryan for losing the 2012 presidential election to former President Barack Obama, while also accusing Ryan of hurting his father's presidency by not securing money for his long-promise border wall.

"Pretty rich," Trump Jr. wrote. "Mitt Romney’s failed 2012 running mate, the speaker who lied to us and didn't deliver Wall funding (and then lost the house) gives advice on winning."

While the 2020 election is still a year and a half away, FiveThirtyEight’s historical polling averages show Trump has the worst net approval rating — that is, approval rating minus disapproval rating — of any president at this point in his first term since Harry Truman.
