President Donald Trump raged on social media as his popularity drooped to historic lows.
A flurry of new polling found the 80-year-old president sinking to the lowest point yet in his second term, with only a third of Americans approving of his job performance, and the only previous president with less public support at this point was Richard Nixon in the days before his resignation.
Trump, however, insisted Monday morning on Truth Social that he was actually more popular than ever.
"My REAL Polling Numbers, not those made up by the Fake News Media, are the best they have ever been," Trump posted, "and why wouldn’t they be with the biggest tax cuts and employment numbers EVER, the biggest outside Investment in America in World history, a totally secure Border, a giant Victory in Venezuela, the Denuclearization of Iran, unparalleled respect and success throughout the World, and much more?"
"Don’t believe the Radical Left’s Fake Poll numbers," Trump added. "They are Crooked and Corrupt, just like the Country Destroying Dumocrats are Crooked and Corrupt. VOTE REPUBLICAN FOR GREATNESS IN AMERICA!"
Trump's polling claims puzzled onlookers and invited criticism.
"Trump’s latest actual polling numbers show approval ratings between 32-39 percent," posted Democratic activist Melanie D'Arrigo. "The 'REAL Polling Numbers' he sees are the ones made up by his staff to keep him happy and clueless."
"Damn that fake Fox News and its lying 39 percent approval rating," laughed attorney and blogger Scott Greenfield.
"His real weight is 185," joked Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL). "His real handicap is 1. His real skin color is orange. His real ankles are svelte. His real parents loved him."
"The president lives in an alternate reality manufactured by his messianic ego," observed blogger Jim Stewartson. "He is clinically psychotic — totally unable to interface with the real world non-destructively. We are being forced to live at the fault line between his grandiose delusions and objective reality."
"'You wouldn't know my real polling numbers. They go to another school,'" mocked Bluesky user Left of the Dial.
"Also shot 70 to win the Club Championship at Bedminster for the 43rd time this weekend...so, yes," pointed out newsman Mike Eppel.
"His polling is s--- and he knows it. He is likely yelling at his staff right now over it," speculated the widely followed We The People account. "We don't have the biggest employment numbers. Those tax cuts only help the wealthy. The border is suddenly totally secure. So remember that come midterms. What giant victory in Venezuela? He stole their oil and America won't see a dime of that money. If Iran is de-nuked, why the hell are we still putting troops in harms way?"
"He HAS to say these things, this pile of transparent horse manure, bc he can't face even a day when he can't feel like he's a winner, all powerful and beloved," opined author Bill Carter. "No sentient, non-lickspittle, person now believes this. But he's not talking to them. He's talking to himself."
"Everything Trump does results in unparalleled success, and his 'real polling' numbers reflect that 'success,'" noted popular Bluesky user Dale Matthew. "Like I have said, Trump has created the first failure-proof presidency -- in his mind."
