FBI probes vivid and violent threats against Colorado justices who ruled against Trump
December 27, 2023
The FBI is investigating threats against Colorado Supreme Court justices after they disqualified Donald Trump from appearing on the state's primary ballot.
Denver police have stepped up patrols around justices' homes after right-wing social media accounts shared their personal information, including some posted on Trump's Truth Social platform, reported WABC-AM.
“The FBI is aware of the situation and working with local law enforcement," said FBI spokesperson Vikki Migoya. "We will vigorously pursue investigations of any threat or use of violence committed by someone who uses extremist views to justify their actions regardless of motivation.”
The justices have reported violent threats, including vivid description of how they would be killed, since find that Trump was ineligible to serve as president under Section Three of the 14th Amendment, which bars insurrectionists from holding elected office.
"Kill judges. Behead judges. Roundhouse kick a judge into the concrete," read one post on a fringe website. "Slam dunk a judge's baby into the trashcan."
Voters have also challenged his candidacy in other states, including Michigan, Minnesota and New Hampshire.
