A former federal prosecutor predicted Wednesday that if there's anything "deficient" about Attorney General William Barr's summary of special counsel Robert Mueller's report, his second turn at the helm of the Justice Department will soon be over.
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace noted in conversation with former Alabama prosecutor Joyce White Vance that Barr already had a "perception problem" prior to his bombastic hearings before the Senate in which he claimed the FBI may have "spied" on Donald Trump's campaign.
"I didn't see anything he did to fix his perception problem," Wallace said. "Did you?"
"No," Vance said. "He really didn't do it. You keep hoping he will, and then he gets these easy questions."
He couldn't even give a "yes or no" answer when asked if he'd shared Mueller's report with the White House, the ex-prosecutor noted — and it "continues to damage him."
"I think we'll all hold out hope for as long as it takes for us to get the report, that when we see it, we'll read it and get a clear picture of what the Mueller investigation put together," Vance added.
"But if that report is deficient, if they hide behind grand jury, and third-party reputation," she concluded, "then I think everything is done for this attorney general and he'll have nothing left."
