‘He feels the walls closing in’: MSNBC’s Mika shreds ‘paranoid’ Trump for ‘spinning out of control’

President Donald Trump lashed out at attorney general Jeff Sessions on Twitter, and MSNBC's "Morning Joe" reacted to his latest "frantic" denial of Russian collusion.

The president admitted in a Tuesday morning tweet that he would not have nominated Sessions if he knew the attorney general would recuse himself from overseeing the Russia probe.

Host Joe Scarborough and his guests agreed the president's recent tweets betrayed a sense of panic and paranoia over special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

"They are so stupid that they don't understand, like the president, who they're dealing with, and think about his tweets over the past week and a half to two weeks," Scarborough said. "He is manic, he is frantic. This is a guy who is cornered with every single tweet about Russia, about Sessions, about Mueller, about it all, about 'no collusion,' he protests too much and shows just how cornered and desperate he is."

Co-host Mika Brzezinski said the president's tweets were reaching supporters who don't care whether he would violate the Constitution to save himself from Mueller, and she said Trump's behavior was worrisome.

"Knowing Donald Trump as I know him, I do feel that he feels the walls closing in on him, and whenever he does he does something ridiculous to deflect, which is what he did with the Philadelphia (Eagles) team and this pattern is pitch-perfect Donald Trump, really paranoid at this point, paranoid to the point of spinning out of control," Brzezinski said.

Brzezinski warned the president's attacks on the Justice Department on Congress -- which could investigate and possibly remove him from office -- appeared to be working.

"I just wouldn't underestimate the fog machine that he is doing to our institutions and the pillars of our democracy, where things can get so broken down he can continue," she said. "I'm just saying it's possible, it's happening, he's doing it right now."
