Book-banning Florida woman apologizes for promoting infamous anti-Semitic text

Daily Salinas, the Florida woman whose complaint led a local elementary school to remove a poem that was read at President Joe Biden's inauguration, is apologizing for promoting one of the most infamously anti-Semitic pieces of literature ever written.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports that Salinas used her Facebook page to promote "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," a text that purports to tell of a Jewish plot for world domination that was fabricated in Russia by anti-Semites in the early 20th Century.

Despite the fact that the "Protocols" are a forgery, they have nonetheless been used for decades by anti-Semites to justify the oppression of Jewish people throughout the world.

After being informed of the book's nature, Salinas said that she wanted to "apologize to the Jewish community" and insisted that "I love the Jewish community."

She also insisted that she only thought that the book was about communism and not Jews despite its blatantly anti-Semitic messages.

"Salinas’ post about the Protocols included a list of steps depicting how 'Jewish Zionists' would achieve world domination," writes the JTA. "The graphic included stages such as 'Place our agents and helpers everywhere,' 'Replace royal rule with socialist rule, then communism, then despotism,' and 'Sacrifice people (including Jews sometimes) when necessary.'"
