Florida cops pummel black man for walking into a store -- then charge him with resisting arrest

Surveillance video shows police tackling and beating a black man who said he was just going in a convenience store to check on his dad after seeing police activity there, CBS47 reports.

Demarcus Brown said there was a drug bust at Ethios Market in Jacksonville, Florida, where another man was arrested. Video shows officers roughly shoving him down while they handcuff another man.

“I'm in a choke hold saying, 'I can't breathe, I can't breathe.' Then they let up and two punches in my side then two punches in my head, they put me in handcuffs and push me up against the ice maker,” he told the station.

Video shows police took Brown into a storage room, where he was punched by officers.

Brown says police asked him not to go inside before the incident happened.

He was charged with resisting arrest, a charge his attorney is trying to get dropped. Protests are planned for Friday.
