Florida Republican Matt Gaetz makes controversial 'white power OK' hand gesture on Fox News

During Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings, a Trump aide named Zina Bash was accused of being a white supremacist for positioning her hands in an "OK" gesture.

Bash originally made the gesture on Tuesday. She then repeated the gesture later in the week after it became a controversy.

Bash, who works as an aide crafting immigration policy for the Trump administration, is a wealthy heiress from south Texas. She was born in Mexico and is also the descendant of Holocaust survivors.

On Saturday night, Florida GOP congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) went on Jesse Watters' Fox News show and made the gesture to mock people who accused Bash of being a white supremacist.

The host mockingly told Gaetz not to make the gesture.

"Matt, don't make that hand-gesture, they're going to freeze-frame it," Watters joked.

"I know, right?" Gaetz said. "It just shows you the extent to which people want to focus on the absurd, rather than the substance."

Florida's election season has been marred by alleged racist dog-whistles from people like Trump-loving GOP gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis who warned that his black opponent was going to "monkey up" the state.
