After pundits, journalists and congresspeople alike agreed that President Donald Trump's Tuesday morning tweet attacking against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) was misogynist and likely constituted sexual harassment, a Republican former congressman took it upon himself to declare that the president is not a sexist.
During a panel discussion on CNN's AC360 about the president's latest controversial tweet, commentator Jack Kingston claimed he doesn't "think there's anything sexist about it at all," earning him a groan from a fellow Republican, the staunchly anti-Trump Ana Navarro.
"Oh, for the love of god!" Navarro exclaimed as Kingston tried to explain himself. Her fellow commentators joined in, many speaking at once to attempt to tell him why he's so wrong.
"That's what he does, he's tough on Twitter," Kingston tried to say -- and then was interrupted by host Anderson Cooper.
"Wait a minute, what about the Megyn Kelly comment?" Cooper inquired, referencing the time on the campaign trail when then-candidate Trump mused that the TV personality must have "blood coming out of her wherever." Trump called both women "lightweights" in his attacks against them.
"I think that was an unfortunate comment," Kingston claimed, adding that on "the Gillibrand thing, he's not sexist."
After trying to say the junior New York senator "owes her whole political career to Bill Clinton," Cooper had had enough.
"Does it matter if a guy thinks it's not sexist if the person who is being attacked feels it's sexist?" the host asked. "Isn't that something people should listen to?"
