White House communications director under former President Barack Obama Dan Pfeiffer warned President Donald Trump on Twitter Saturday that Trump's actions are starting to look more and more like the sorts of high crimes and misdemeanors that get presidents thrown out of office.
The Hill said Pfeiffer was responding to news that Trump appealed to Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions to have the charges against Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio dismissed before Arpaio's trial began.
Now that Arpaio has been convicted of contempt for violating a federal order to end his racist persecution of the Latino community in Maricopa County, AZ, Trump pardoned him before the sentencing phase of his trial even began.
Pfeiffer said this sounds to him like thin ice, legally, for the president to be treading on.
