Fox News stunned the nation Thursday with its abrupt announcement that the network had parted ways with Maria Bartiromo.

“Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox News Media,” the network announced. “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

“Not exactly an emotional farewell,” The Atlantic’s Tom Nichols responded. Journalist Aaron Rupar added. "Wow!"

Bartiromo hosted a weekday morning program on Fox Business Network and “Sunday Morning Futures” on Fox News. The announcement of the veteran anchor's sudden departure immediately sparked shocked reactions online.

“Maria Bartiromo out at Fox News per a terse statement,” Vanity Fair Washington correspondent Aidan McLaughlin wrote on X.

McLaughlin noted, “Bartiromo is not leaving for a job in the Trump admin, I’m told.”
