'This is hilarious': MAGA candidate ripped for deleting pic after he's caught using AI
MAGA candidate Ed Gallrein was caught red-handed using AI (X/Thomas Massie for Congress)
May 09, 2026
A MAGA candidate running to unseat one of President Donald Trump's biggest GOP foes made a social media faux pas, and the Internet ripped into him before he could get away with it.
"Now I know why woke Eddie won't debate me!" wrote Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) about his opponent, the Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein. "He uses AI to write all his social media posts. Unfortunately for him, he's not smart enough to remove Grok's feedback to him [laughing face emoji]."
Gallrein posted a photo on Saturday with a supporter during a campaign event. The top of the Instagram post read, "Here's a polished social media post in your usual campaign/community-focused tone," followed by text made to sound like him.
"Today, I had the opportunity to visit with the folks at the Canceburh Mayfest," Grok apparently wrote for Gallrein.
Gallrein deleted the post from his official campaign account, but it was too late. Massie had already taken a screenshot and shared it on X for everyone to have a field day.
MAGA outcast Marjorie Taylor Greene called Gallrein "a hollow controlled puppet that can't even speak his own words!!!" and added that he's "too afraid to debate Thomas Massie and has never shown up to a single debate. Not only that, he uses AI to write his social media posts."
"This is hilarious," wrote journalist Steve Baker. "@EdGallrein is nothing more than [an] empty suit propped up by AI. Oh, how I wish he'd agree to a debate, rather than playing the role of Basement Joe Biden."
