George Conway delivers devastating case for why Trump’s misconduct is ‘worse than Nixon’

George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, argued on Tuesday that President Donald Trump's known misconduct is worse than the misconduct that led to the downfall of former President Richard Nixon.

Writing on Twitter, Conway approvingly quoted Washington Post columnist Greg Sargent, who wrote this week that Trump didn't just try to obstruct an investigation into his own misconduct, but into the Russian government's attacks on the integrity of American elections.

"It’s why Trump’s misconduct is worse than the misconduct that led to Nixon’s resignation," Conway said of Trump's failed attempts to obstruct the Mueller probe. "Put another way, a president takes an oath in which he 'solemnly swear[s] [to] support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.' Here, in attempting to subvert the investigation into Russia’s effort’s to interfere with our electoral process, Trump violated that oath and put his own vanity and self-interest above that of the nation and people whose laws and Constitution he swore to faithfully execute and uphold."

Conway then renewed his call for House Democrats to begin impeachment hearings.

"If that's not impeachable, nothing is," he said.
