'You killed my dog!' Hecklers pelt George Santos with insults as he exits courthouse
June 30, 2023
Indicted Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was greeted by hecklers as he exited a courthouse on Long Island on Friday.
Santos, whose court appearance was related to the 13-count federal indictment he got hit with earlier this year, was pelted with chants of "resign" from New Yorkers who are apparently not happy that the scandal-plagued New York Republican still hasn't stepped down.
At one point, one of the protesters yelled out, "You killed my dog!', a likely reference to claims made by Richard Osthoff, a disabled military veteran who claimed that Santos set up an online fundraiser to pay for his dying dog's healthcare and then pilfered the funds for himself.
There was at least one Santos supporter on hand, however, as a woman in the video can be seen approaching Santos and handing him an American flag.

Santos earlier this year was arrested and charged with 13 felony criminal counts consisting of seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, two counts of making false statements to Congress, and one count of theft of public funds.
Santos came under fire shortly after being elected last year when multiple reports revealed that he fabricated entire parts of his life story, including his academic career, his work history, and even his claims of Jewish heritage.
