Fans of President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again movement came unglued on Sunday after a Democratic governor unveiled what they described as a "literal biblical curse" at a public event.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul spoke to a group of Muslim men at the Islamic Cultural Center in New York over the weekend. During the event, Hochul stood on stage wearing a hijab, a common way for people to honor Muslim customs and etiquette. The move caused a stir among the MAGA faithful, many of whom accused Hochul of siding with a foreign government.
Several of the MAGA faithful reacted to a video of the event that circulated on social media on Sunday.
"Regular reminder that being ruled by women and foreigners is literally a biblical curse," Auron MacIntyre, a columnist at The Blaze, posted on X.
"Governor Kathy Hochul is wearing a hijab yet again," Benny Johnson, a MAGA influencer, posted on X. "If suicidal empathy had a poster child, it would be her."
"New Yorkers: The number one reason you should (sic) Republican! Shameful! Pandering!" Leo Terrell, a senior counsel at the Department of Justice and a former Fox News contributor, posted on X.
"Good God. This is embarrassing," Gina Milan, a MAGA influencer, posted on X.
