Former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) joined Piers Morgan for a teary-eyed interview after learning he would be sent to prison for over seven years.
In an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored on YouTube, Santos said he hadn't considered a pardon from President Donald Trump yet because he was unsure what his sentence would be.
"Now, I am in the process of filling out an application for a pardon for the president," Santos said. "I'll take the commutation, clemency, whatever the president is willing to give me. I don't want this to seem like a political pitch. I want it to be a fair pitch. And I think [there is] no one better than President Trump to know what a weaponized Justice Department looks like. This is exactly it, seven years and three months in prison for a first-time offender over campaign matters, just screams over the top."
He said that he would appreciate it if Trump considers it.

"I mean, look all things aside, put all the politics aside, and just look at it for the facts, and look at the case for what it states. It's just completely political," Santos complained.
"If I had the opportunity, I’d say President Trump, I appreciate if you can give me a consideration. I'm not an altar boy, not pretending to be one, but I'm not a hardened criminal who deserves to be in prison for seven years, off what I would call ‘ambitious mistakes’ and something that I deeply regret, and I would like to take all of the bad I've done and transform it into a positive… to be able to sniff out other bad actors doing similar actions that I did."
He said that his niece, who has autism, will suffer the most, as he said he co-parents her with his sister.
There's also a heavy risk that his marriage would "struggle," he confessed.
“So you've actually told your spouse that you think you should break up, so that he can be free?” asked Morgan.
“Not yet, but that's definitely in my head and that's kind of like where my head's at… It’s huge. It's like seven years, seven years we've been together, is huge. And then, I don't think it'd be fair," said Santos.
