Judge 'visibly annoyed' after Rudy Giuliani shows up 20 minutes late to defamation trial
December 11, 2023
U.S. District Court Chief Judge Beryl Howell appeared "visibly annoyed" on Monday after Rudy Giuliani was late to his defamation trial.
According to MSNBC's Kyle Griffin, Giuliani was 20 minutes late to the hearing.
"Giuliani arrived 20 minutes late to the proceedings," Griffin wrote on X. "Judge Howell was visibly annoyed."
Giuliani has already been found liable in a defamation suit brought by two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, who were the subject of his conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election being rigged.
After Giuliani was seated in the courtroom, an attorney for Freeman and Moss recalled some of the harassment the women had faced.

"He starts with a montage of voicemails the mother and daughter received," WUSA's Jordan Fischer reported from the courtroom. "They're filled with offensive, violent and racist language. In one, the caller chants the n-word over and over again. In another, the caller refers to Moss and Freeman as prostitutes."
Freeman and Moss seek between $15.5 million and $43 million in damages from Giuliani.
The trial is expected to last four days.
