Goat blood-drinking Libertarian welcomes support from white supremacists

A Florida Libertarian candidate best known for drinking the blood of a freshly killed goat says he's a friend to white supremacists.

That's not entirely surprising, since Augustus Sol Invictus -- who's running an Aug. 30 primary race for the U.S. Senate -- once wrote a paper praising eugenics and has vowed to start a second civil war.

But the 33-year-old Orlando attorney clarified on Tuesday what ties he's got to white supremacists during a south Florida town hall, reported the Miami Herald.

Voters asked Invictus, who has refused to reveal his birth name, whether he was friends with white supremacists, and he admitted he was.

Invictus also said he wasn't sure whether he'd disavow an endorsement from a white supremacist group, but he admitted he would accept campaign contributions from individual white supremacists.

The newspaper reported the goat blood incident came up just 10 seconds into the event, after the moderator asked Invictus how his campaign was going.

“It’s brutal, soaked in blood,” Invictus said, and an audience member asked if he meant goat's blood.

"Zing," replied Invictus, who drank the animal's blood to celebrate the end of a walk from Orlando to the Mojave Desert.

Invictus refused to answer a question about his path to victory, but vowed to attack his major party rivals.

“My entire strategy involves the art of war,” Invictus said. “We have a strategy of attacking [Republican Marco] Rubio and [Democrat Patrick] Murphy -- but I cannot say aloud.”
