In a dramatic reversal, Grassley dismissed whistleblower allegations—some accusing Bove of misleading lawmakers and pressuring DOJ attorneys to defy court orders—as a “coordinated political strike.” His attacks have reportedly created a “chilling” effect on oversight, deterring other potential whistleblowers at a time when the Trump administration is purging officials deemed disloyal. Bove’s confirmation passed narrowly with only GOP support.
