GOP is actively looking for female special counsel to question Kavanaugh accuser: report

After much debate about Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s sexual assault claims, CNN's Wolf Blitzer said that the GOP is looking into bringing on a female outside counsel to investigate.

Kavanaugh was accused of sexually assaulting Dr. Christine Blasey Ford during a party while the two were in high school. Ford has said that she would not testify on Monday, but would be willing to testify later in the week.

The move to bring in an outside counsel shows that the GOP is concerned about their image and how they are handling this serious case.

"Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are now looking into the possibility of an outside counsel who is female to question [Dr.] Christine Blasey Ford— if a hearing actually happens," Wolf said.

"This according to a Republican source familiar with the matter. Our guys are reporting this could help the Republicans overcome its lack of any female Senators on the committee," he said.

Wolf continued: "There are 11 Republican Senators, and the majority on the committee are all men. They are still working out conditions of any hearing. A hearing has not yet been confirmed, but if this happens it could be significant."
