A political analyst on Friday pointed out a stunning moment when a top adviser to President Donald Trump admitted that no votes were changed in the 2020 election.
Vaughn Hillyard, MS NOW senior White House reporter, described why the admission from disgraced journalist John Solomon was so significant during a panel with host Katy Tur.
"I've gotten used to White House officials, campaign officials for Donald Trump over 5 1/2 years refusing to say that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election," Hillyard said. "And that is why I was, frankly, so stunned in that moment to hear John Solomon, the guy that was brought in to try to help prove the 2020 election was bunk, say specifically that there was no intelligence that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. And I think, why is that so stunning and head-turning in 2026 is beyond us, but the fact is, that's reality."
Hillyard described the fear among people in the Republican Party, adding "there are so few people" in the party willing to admit that Trump lost the 2020 election.
"And when in2026, when you look across the Republican Party, at state, atthe state government levels orup on Capitol Hill in Congress, Republicans today have such adifficult time saying exactlywhat John Solomon just saidright there, that as far as theintelligence that he has available to him, that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election," Hillyard added. "And when you look at Capitol Hill, one of those guys thatsigned on to that brief back in2020 to try to overturn theelection results in four stateswas Mike Johnson, the currentSpeaker of the House. And so Ithink the words of John Solomonright there on the White Houselawn last night couldpotentially ring far and wide — could because a White Houseofficial allied with Donald Trump said the words that thereis no intelligence to suggestthat Donald Trump won the 2020election, a hell of a bigstatement in July of 2026."
